TP-Link has unveiled its first Wi-Fi 8 products, the Archer 8 Ultra router and Deco 8 Ultra mesh system. There’s also a catch here, as both products are built on the IEEE 802.11bn standard, which is still working through a ratification process that usually takes a year or more. Well, this makes TP-Link one of the first companies to release hardware for an unfinished Wi-Fi 8 generation.
TP-Link’s first Wi-Fi 8 routers focus on faster speeds and better stability
Both routers use TP-Link’s new Wi-Fi 8 StabilityEngine. The company designed this to address three common home Wi-Fi problems: weak coverage in distant areas, network congestion, and also interference that can slow connections. It uses technologies such as Enhanced Long Range and Distributed Resource Units to manage those issues, Non-Primary Channel Access to keep the network responsive under load, and Unequal Modulations to maintain speeds when there is interference.
The Archer 8 Ultra is a tri-band router with wireless and wired speeds of up to 19Gbps and 10Gbps, respectively. It’s built around 18 internal antennas to maintain consistent coverage throughout the home. Meanwhile, the Deco 8 Ultra is also a tri-band system. It offers up to 22Gbps wireless speed and the same wired speeds of up to 10Gbps. A three-pack extends coverage across 9,800 square feet and supports more than 200 connected devices.

The StabilityEngine focus extends to the design of both devices. Instead of the usual exposed antennas and rows of blinking LEDS, the Archer 8 Ultra has a dual-tone grille and a soft status light. The Deco 8 Ultra also takes a similar approach with a compact, organic-edged shape with a matte body and a glossy top panel that makes it more noticeable.
“We stopped building a piece of networking equipment and started designing for the home,” said Gary Chang, TP-Link’s lead industrial designer. “When a router’s design becomes something people want to display, it ends up exactly where it performs best.”
Pre-orders from September 30
TP-Link says the Archer 8 Ultra will be up for pre-order on September 30 through its online store. This will be alongside a global launch event covering its wider Wi-Fi 8 lineup. Besides the two initial products, the company also plans to launch more products. That includes a separate Deco 8 mesh system in early 2027. There’ll also be a Roam 8 travel router and other Wi-Fi 8 extenders and adapters in spring 2027.
The pricing and regional availability details for the two devices are not out yet. We might learn more details at the September 30 launch event.
