A new gaming handheld is on the market called the Arc X1, coming from the brand Arc, an India-based gaming company that is taking its first steps into the world of handheld gaming with this device. The Arc X1 is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon G2 Gen 2 platform, with 8GB of RAM and 128GB of internal storage. It’s a handheld designed for Android gaming, but it can be used for emulators as well, plus cloud gaming through various apps like GeForce NOW.
This is an entry-level device that will reportedly end up costing ₹29,500 for the base model, which is about $307 USD based on the exchange rate. Arc will only be selling the one model and it’s worth noting that the ₹29,500 price will only be available for some people, specifically the members of Arc’s Early Access Waitlist Community. The early access orders will go up for availability on October 2. Meanwhile, for general availability, customers who aren’t on the waitlist and grab the device during early access will have to pay the full price, which is listed as ₹33,500, or the equivalent of $349.
The Arc X1 Gaming Handheld runs on a custom Android-based OS
The Arc X1 is running on Android, technically, but it’s an Android-based OS created by Arc called OwlOS. It comes with a 7-inch display that’s Full HD with a refresh rate of 120Hz and a peak brightness of 500 nits.
It also only weighs about 450g to 500g, and sports a battery capacity of 9,300mAh. It has a full list of all the controls you could expect from a handheld these days, including left and right triggers and bumper, trigger locks on the back, dual thumbsticks with RGB light rings around the base, a d-pad, ABXY action buttons, and a few more buttons for going to the home screen, accessing the menu and more. They’re also not your regular controls. The thumbsticks are TMR, the triggers are Hall Effect, and the ABXY action buttons are micro switch.
