The Snapdragon 8 Elite Extreme Gen 6 is the next flagship chipset from Qualcomm and it has now reportedly shown up in the first benchmarks. These are early benchmarks and the results aren’t guaranteed to be the same on future tests as the results will vary by phone. Qualcomm will hold its Snapdragon Summit in September where it’s suspected that it will reveal the new chip.
The benchmarks for the Snapdragon 8 Elite Extreme Gen 6 showing up follows an earlier report about the chipset’s actual existence, which appeared as rumored names on the morning of August 25. The benchmark results don’t offer up details on the specs of this Vivo phone but they do showcase what’s to be expected from the overall performance of Qualcomm’s new flagship chipset.
The benchmarks for the Snapdragon 8 Elite Extreme Gen 6 shows a lower score than the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5
The current flagship chipset from Qualcomm is the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5, and according to the leaked benchmarks for the Snapdragon 8 Elite Extreme Gen 6, the former has higher scores. The benchmark of the Vivo device using Qualcomm’s new chip results in a single-core score of 3,434, and a multi-core score of 9,334. Compared to the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 scores which are 3,631 and 10,940 respectively.
As Notebookcheck points out, these scores aren’t a confirmation that Qualcomm’s new flagship chipset is less powerful or performance-heavy than the current flagship because these are early tests, and the chips used in these devices aren’t production units that will be used in devices purchased by consumers.
In addition to the scores, the benchmarks, which are based on Geekbench 6.7.1 for Android, the Snapdragon 8 Elite Extreme Gen 6 features a CPU layout of 2 cores plus 2 cores plus 3 cores.
