According to a new report by Ice Universe, a well-known tipster, the Galaxy S27 Ultra will have another design change compared to its predecessor, other than the brand new camera plateau, of course.
The Galaxy S27 Ultra will seemingly be more comfortable to hold
The tipster went to X to share the info. The new phone will have a more rounded frame, it seems, with softer edges than the Galaxy S26 Ultra. Ice believes that this will make the phone more natural to hold, and improve grip comfort in general.
As you can see in the provided image, it’s a very small change, very small. The Galaxy S26 Ultra already has soft edges, this is just a slight change in the same direction. If you prefer softer edges, there you go.
As a reminder, we’ve recently revealed the Galaxy S27 Ultra’s design via exclusive CAD-based renders. The phone will look very similar to its predecessor, other than the new camrea plateau on the back.
That new camera setup should help with the wobble problem, which was quite considerable with the Galaxy S26 Ultra and all other Galaxy S26 series smartphones, actually.
The phone is coming in Q1 2027
The device is expected to arrive in either January or February, and three other Galaxy S27 phones will launch alongside it. The Galaxy S27, Galaxy S27+, and Galaxy S27 Pro are also coming.
Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 Pro chip will almost certainly fuel the Galaxy S27 Ultra. Samsung has a long-standing partnership with Qualcomm, and it always uses the company’s very best chip available. That processor is coming soon.
The phone will include Android 17 out of the box, with One UI 9.5 on top of it. You’ll also get a big OLED display with a 120Hz refresh rate, plenty of RAM and several storage options. A bigger battery is also tipped, though we can’t confirm that just yet.
