Between Google Maps and Apple Maps, Waze doesn’t often take the limelight. On most occasions, it is slow in adopting new, modern features that users usually look for. One such instance is what we’re probably seeing here. After being in testing for months, Waze is now reportedly rolling out traffic light indicators in navigation more widely. Before you get all excited, it’s still not available to everyone.
Waze reportedly brings traffic light indicators to more users
Though they display them differently, Apple and Google Maps have had this feature for quite some time now. Meanwhile, Waze, for some reason, has been lagging. Well, that looks to finally change now. Although in a phased manner. Waze was spotted testing the traffic lights feature back in December 2025. And now, it is apparently showing up for more users.
Being able to see traffic lights during navigation is definitely very useful, especially on long roads. This helps those driving prepare better, make smoother lane changes, and drive more safely, as the feature gives them advance notice.

Not available to everyone yet
While some users have reported seeing it over the past few months, a Reddit thread this week shows several more users gaining access, with some getting it in the last week or two and others having it for longer. While this is a positive development, the replies in the Reddit thread suggest that the feature is still not available to everyone. Some even note that the lack of this feature is what’s forcing them to use an alternative app.
We’re not sure how Waze is deciding which user gets access. Currently, it’s not clear when the company will roll this out to everyone. But for what it’s worth, the traffic lights feature does appear to be available to more users than it was a few months ago.Â
