Huawei has introduced its next big software update at its annual developer conference. The company has debuted the developer beta for HarmonyOS 7. The brand’s latest OS brings a wave of visual upgrades and deep system improvements to its devices. The fresh OS introduces 3D spatial personalization and features a much smarter built-in artificial intelligence-powered assistant.
HarmonyOS 7 brings a new 3D spatial design language
One of the biggest visual upgrades in HarmonyOS 7 is spatial personalization. The system now utilizes your device’s hardware to convert standard wallpapers into interactive scenes with a cool 3D effect on the lock screen. Users can actually see the depth when they wake up their device to check their notifications.
Apart from the wallpapers, the visual changes also extend to the basic system menus. Huawei has upgraded its sliders and buttons with immersive light effects, which respond to a user’s touch. Notably, while the new HarmonyOS 7 UI shares some visual similarities with Apple’s liquid glass style, the new Huawei OS feels a bit more interactive and playful.
The new Huawei software brings upgraded AI features
Besides the visual changes, HarmonyOS 7 offers major improvements to its built-in assistant. The company calls this next phase Agentic AI. The upgraded Celia assistant is now a system-level intelligence hub. It is capable of understanding user intent, carrying out multi-step actions, and interacting more deeply with applications and services.
The assistant can now generate different kinds of text and pull real-time information much faster. It also hooks deeper into the system, meaning it can now execute complex commands directly within your favorite applications without requiring you to navigate through multiple menus.
HarmonyOS 7 also gets the Intelligent Agent Framework 2.0, which the company says improves task completion rates. It boasts a task execution success rate of over ninety percent, and it runs fifteen percent faster than the earlier version. This means opening games and streaming video feels snappier across the board.
As of now, Huawei is offering the developer beta version of HarmonyOS 7 to select flagship models to test out. Huawei Mate 80 Pro, Mate X7, Mate XT Master, Pura 90 Pro Max, Pura X, Pura X Collector’s Edition, and the nova 15 Pro are some of these devices. If all goes well during testing, the company plans to release the final version to everyone this fall.
