Today, Apple is going to be launching the iPhone Duo, the rumored name for its first foldable device. This is being announced alongside the iPhone 18 Pro and Pro Max, with the base model iPhone 18 and iPhone Air 2 being pushed to spring.
The Apple event will kick off at 10AM PT/1PM ET today and is expected to last about an hour. Though it could go a little longer since they are unveiling a whole new form factor.
But this event isn’t just about iPhones. Apple will also unveil the Apple Watch Series 12 and the Apple Watch Ultra 4. According to Mark Gurman, these two watches will have a privacy-focused AI feature that analyzes your day. Providing you with a summary of what happened, including conversations. It won’t be able to show a transcript, though, and it doesn’t record audio. Gurman also noted that the Watch Ultra 4 will have better battery life, a feature on last year’s watches as well.
AirPods 5 is also set to be announced today at this event; it will feature active noise cancellation and will still come in two models. Essentially, one will have a wireless charging case, and the other won’t.
As far as pricing goes, we’re looking at a $100 price increase for the iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max, which should bring the iPhone 18 Pro to $1,199 this year. The iPhone Duo is expected to start at $1,999, with the 2TB model going up to $2,999.
Pre-orders should start on September 12, a Saturday this year, because Friday is September 11, and Apple tries to avoid that day. The iPhone Duo is expected to start shipping in October, however. This was expected, since it’s a new model, and new models typically get a later ship date than the rest of the iPhone lineup.
