Carriers increase the price of their plans from time to time. That uncertainty has made customers understandably wary. This is why carriers such as Verizon have introduced price-lock guarantees. The most recent from Verizon is a 3-year price-lock guarantee for its myPlan plans. Unfortunately, it looks like that’s no longer available.
Verizon ends 3-year myPlan price-lock guarantee
According to a recent Droid-Life report, it appears that the Verizon 3-year price-lock guarantee for myPlan has ended. Verizon hasn’t officially announced the changes themselves. But when Droid-Life spoke to the carrier’s AI support agent, it more or less confirmed it.
However, there are a couple of things worth noting. For starters, customers who signed up for myPlan before June 16, 2026, will still enjoy the 3-year guarantee. But customers who sign up after June 16, 2026, will not receive those perks. This means that if and when Verizon decides to raise its prices, you’ll have to pay for it.
What’s kind of sad is that Verizon’s plan didn’t last very long. The company initially announced its price-lock guarantee back in mid-2025. Now, about a year later, that promise is out the window. We’re not sure if Verizon realized it wasn’t sustainable or if this was their plan all along. Either way, if you missed the boat, then too bad.
Price increases anyway
That being said, Droid-Life notes that despite the price-lock guarantee, Verizon still found ways to charge customers more. While the actual plan itself remained at the same price, the carrier increased the cost of device activation fees. They also increased the price of device upgrade fees while also taking away loyalty discounts.
So technically Verizon didn’t break its promise then. It just found sneaky ways around it.
Verizon is also not the only one walking back promises of price locks. T-Mobile made a name for themselves way back in the early un-carrier days. The carrier promised plan prices would not go up for the life of the account under older un-carrier contracts. But that eventually came to an end too.
