The newly announced vivo X Fold 6 will indeed be available globally. But don’t expect it to come to the US, unfortunately.
Last week, vivo announced its newest foldable, the X Fold 6, which is a very impressive-looking phone with some of the best cameras we’ve likely ever seen on a foldable. But the big question has been: will this make its way outside of China? Since last week was the Chinese launch. And the answer is yes. vivo has confirmed that it will be available outside of China, but is not mentioning specific regions just yet.
The vivo X Fold 6 is also the only foldable right now running on a MediaTek chipset, specifically the Dimensity 9500 Super Edition. It also has one of the largest batteries, at 7,000mAh with 80W wired charging. When it comes to the cameras, vivo did not skimp there either, with a 200MP main camera, 50MP ultrawide lens, and a 50MP 3x telephoto camera. The pricing is somewhat expensive in China, so when this does launch outside of China, don’t expect it to be cheap.
The Android Headlines Take
When Chinese phone companies say that a device will “launch globally,” it’s important to take that with a grain of salt. Companies tend to believe that launching in a single country outside of China constitutes a “global launch”. For instance, the vivo X Fold 3 was only launched in India, and the X Fold 5 was only launched in India, Indonesia, Hong Kong, Malaysia, the Philippines, and Taiwan.
Obviously, vivo won’t be launching the X Fold 6 in the US, but a European launch would be nice. Particularly after launching the X300 Ultra in Europe this year. If vivo is anything like its former BBK sister-brand, OPPO, it will launch this foldable in fewer markets than its ‘Ultra’ phone. As OPPO did the same thing with Find N6 and Find X9 Ultra.
