A data breach has exposed the personal information of about 3,600 Trump Mobile users. Even the company’s own executive responsible for technology and security wasn’t spared. The personal data of the users was published last week by a criminal group known as BYOD on its leak site. The attackers exposed names, emails, phone numbers, and home addresses.
Trump Mobile users’ personal data exposed in a new breach
Cybernews researchers have reported a new data breach linked to Trump Mobile users. The security firm examined the leaked data and said all the information is of genuine users. The hacker group, BYOD, said that it obtained the information after gaining access through Liberty Mobile. For reference, Liberty Mobile is a Florida-based mobile virtual network operator that powers Trump Mobile.
That’s not all. The BYOD also said that a Trump Mobile employee was infected with a remote access Trojan. The trojan then allowed hackers to move into exposed Trump Mobile subdomains and take customer data. What’s even more concerning is that the hacker group claims that it has live access to the company’s dashboard. The following claim isn’t independently verified yet; however, people contacted about the dataset reportedly verified details in the leak.
Hackers claim all 3,615 customers’ personal data is leaked
BYOD says that it has made all 3,615 customers’ and telecom information available online. Among the exposed users is Eric Brunnett, vice president and chief information officer of the Trump Organization. The leaked records also include people who said they were not successful Trump Mobile customers.
BYOD said Trump Mobile was notified before the data was published. However, the company reportedly said it had no team to handle the incident. Last but not least, this is not the first time Trump Mobile has faced such a data breach. Back in May, a vulnerability in the T1 preorder system exposed names, addresses, and order information linked to roughly 30,000 people.
