The Huawei Mate XT 2 Ultimate Design, Huawei’s newest tri-fold smartphone, will be getting a global launch that covers overseas markets. The new foldable was officially announced by Huawei back on September 7, but at the time it was only ever confirmed for a release in the Chinese market.
The Huawei Mate XT 2 Ultimate Design is a tri-fold and Huawei’s second one at that, but it doesn’t fold like the previous model, and instead adopts the folding design of the Samsung Galaxy Z Trifold, which has both sides of the phone fold inward over the center part of the inner display. Huawei says it’s the company’s “most advanced tri-fold yet,” sporting a 10.2-inch inner display size with a 120Hz refresh rate and 3K resolution. It also comes with a 5,600mAh battery and it’s powered by the Kirin 9050 Pro chipset.
Huawei confirms the Mate XT 2 Ultimate Design will launch in global markets
While Huawei has confirmed that the Mate XT 2 Ultimate Design is coming to global markets, that will not include the US due to the ban that was placed on Huawei back in 2019. However, Huawei does suggest that the phone will be hitting certain overseas markets. It doesn’t say when the phone will be launched outside of China, though.
This week at an International Media Roundtable, Huawei’s Co-Bunsiness Chariman Richard Yu stated that “We’ll gradually make this tri-fold phone available in the overseas market. Many users in the Middle East and Asia Pacific love it. I also hope that we can bring it to other markets like Europe.” This isn’t a confirmation that the Mate XT 2 Ultimate Design will come to Europe, the Asia Pacific, or the Middle East. But Yu makes it clear that those are target markets outside of China. The Mate XT 2 Ultimate Design comes in three different colors, which includes white and gold, black and gold, and black and purple.
