Google is officially rolling out the September 2026 Pixel Feature Drop to all supported devices, and this particular update is introducing some new features as well as improvements to existing ones. Such as the update to the Pixel VIPs feature, which now lets you more easily call your favorite contacts or “VIPs” with single-tap simplicity from the home screen.
This will be available on Pixel 6 devices and up. The change is targeted at users who talk to their VIP contacts often, and will let you place shortcuts on the home screen to quickly call or send a text to your VIP contacts with one tap. Google also says that there will be new “glanceable notification badges” that make it easier to stay on top of the most important communications.
The September 2026 Pixel Feature Drop is expanding Scam Detection in Messages to new languages
Scam Detection in Messages is getting some updates as part of this feature drop as well, with Google confirming that it will be expanding to new languages. After this update rolls out to all users, Scam Detection in Messages will support English, Portuguese, German, Spanish, Arabic, French, and Japanese. Regional availability is limited to the US, UK, Australia, Canada, Singapore, India, Germany, Mexico, Japan, and France.
Google is also making improvements to the Raise To Talk gesture on Pixel Watch, with support for the Pixel Watch 4 and the Pixel Watch 5. Additionally, it’ll now be easier to scroll through notifications on the watch. A new one-handed pinch gesture will let users open the notification tray and scroll through what’s in there.
Google is also adding in some Harry Potter audiobook packs for fans of the franchise. By implementing these, your phone gets a Harry Potter-themed wallpaper, as well as system sounds and icons based on the audiobook.
