Several Google Home speaker users have reported a new issue on online forums wherein the device becomes slow or completely unresponsive. For some users, the device is taking an unusually long time to respond to voice commands. For others, it’s failing to respond altogether. The scale of the issues remains unknown. However, online reports suggest the issue is affecting both Google Nest and Home speakers.
Many Google Home and Nest speakers are becoming unresponsive
Some users on Reddit have reported that their Google Home speakers, while being able to listen to the commands, are taking too long to respond. Some posts suggest it’s taking about 30 seconds or more to respond, while others time out before providing any answer. What’s further concerning is that the issue is affecting both the older and newer models. Users with recently purchased Google Home speakers have also reported similar behaviour.
That’s not all. Some users are dealing with problems that extend beyond response delays. Several users’ speakers suddenly went offline without any obvious reason. The weird behaviour left the users frustrated. This is not the first time Google Home users have faced such reliability issues. The Google Home subreddit and other similar online forums have become regular places for owners to share their frustrations whenever new issues arise.
Google has not acknowledged the issue yet
Despite several users reporting the problem, Google has now taken cognizance of the matter. The exact cause behind the problem also remains unknown. Further, Downdetector has not shown signs of a major outage, even though user reports have risen above normal levels. This confirms that while the problem is not affecting the larger user base, it’s surely affecting a handful of users. At this stage, it is impossible to say whether the problem is linked to Google’s servers, a recent software update, or another technical fault.
