Google has started to roll out a new version of the Pixel Camera. The Pixel Camera 10.4 is now reaching users. It is available in the form of a Google Play Store app update, and it’s not exactly a major update.
The Pixel Camera 10.4 is here, but without any flair
There don’t seem to be any user-facing changes here or new features, for that matter. Google did list three camera fixes with the Android 17 June update, though.
The first entry says that a fix for a camera stability issue that causes the system to crash in certain conditions has been issued. That goes for the Pixel 9 and Pixel 10 series, including the Pixel 10a.
The second entry mentions a fix for the camera app freezing issue. That was happening when changing the zoom level while recording on some Pixel 10 and Pixel 10a units.
The last fix takes care of an issue that caused the camera service to occasionally crash. That affected the overall system stability. This fix is valid for quite a few phones, ranging from the Pixel 6 all the way to the Pixel 10a.
The Android Headlines Take
We did not know when the Pixel Camera 10.4 would drop, but it’s not exactly surprising that it doesn’t deliver any (notable) updates. Why? Well, the Pixel 11 series launch is not exactly far off at this point in time.
We are expecting to see new camera features introduced once the company’s new devices drop. There are no details regarding that just yet, but it’s the case with every new generation, so… it’s not surprising Google is keeping things under wraps for now.
The Google Pixel 10 series arrived back in August last year, so we’re expecting a similar timeframe for the Pixel 11 series as well.
