The inner display of the upcoming Galaxy Z Fold 8 is going to change the game for foldables.
As many of you likely know, the upcoming Galaxy Z Fold 8 is shrinking a bit. Instead of the tall, skinny cover display, Samsung is opting for a shorter, fatter cover display. And it’s all because of Apple and its upcoming iPhone Ultra. But we’re now starting to see what the inner display is going to look like on such a short foldable. And it looks great.
Ice Universe has posted a rendering of what it would look like open vs closed. The great thing about this foldable, and one of the main reasons why I’m excited for it, is that when you open the device, you automatically get it in landscape orientation. And it’s a little less than a square this time, whereas most foldables have a square display. This is going to make it perfect for multitasking.
The bezels do look quite thick here, and while this is a simulated image on top of the device, we have seen renders of the Galaxy Z Fold 8, and they do seem to be on the thicker side.
Ice has also posted what it looks like open and closed next to the Galaxy S26 Ultra.

The Android Headlines Take
Personally, I’m very excited for the Galaxy Z Fold 8. It reminds me a lot of the Google Pixel Fold and the OPPO Find N2, which were short and chunky foldables. But they weren’t quite as wide as what the Galaxy Z Fold 8 is expected to be.
While Samsung’s Galaxy Z Fold has gotten wider each year, it’s still on the skinny side despite the 21:9 aspect ratio. Now that Samsung is offering a much wider option this year, it means Samsung is finally giving users a choice. Which could lead to Samsung deciding to stop making the Galaxy Z Flip, as we had reported yesterday.
