Samsung’s wide foldable has just been spotted in the wild. As a reminder, that phone will allegedly be called the Galaxy Z Fold 8, while the square foldable will carry the Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra name.
Samsung’s wide foldable makes its first public appearance
In any case, you can see a couple of images of the phone that has been spotted below. The person using it is a Samsung employee, according to Ice Universe, and this is a restaurant in Korea.
Unfortunately, though, the device is covered by Samsung’s internal anti-leak protective case. That’s a common occurrence when high-profile devices get spotted in the wild prior to launch. We’ve seen it happen a number of times in the past.
Due to this case, only parts of the frame are visible, along with the phone’s dual rear cameras. Those cameras pretty much confirm the design we first revealed via CAD-based renders.
This phone will allegedly be called the Galaxy Z Fold 8
The Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 8, which will be the name of Samsung’s wide foldable, is expected to launch in July. July 22 is tipped as the launch date, and the launch event will allegedly take place in London. Needless to say, the Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra will launch alongside it.
Samsung’s wide foldable will be notably shorter and wider than the square one. It will also have one fewer camera on the back and won’t include a 200-megapixel main snapper. A dual 50-megapixel camera setup is tipped.
That smartphone will be high-end, however. Similar specs to the Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra are expected, with the exception of the cameras. We don’t really have a lot of specific details regarding specs, though. The same Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 chip is expected, though, plus a dual AMOLED display setup. Both of those displays will offer a 120Hz refresh rate.
