According to the rumors, Samsung is expected to host an event later this month. The upcoming Unpacked event will see Samsung show off new phones like the Galaxy Z Fold 8, Fold 8 Ultra, and Flip 8. But Samsung could also announce new wearables, like the Galaxy Watch 9 and Watch Ultra 2. Now, an exclusive report from SammyGuru has revealed screenshots from the new design for the Galaxy Wearable app.
What’s changing in the Samsung Galaxy Wearable app design
For starters and possibly the most obvious, the new Galaxy Wearable app design splits things into three tabs. You get Watch Faces, Home, and Settings, all sitting in a floating tab bar at the bottom of the screen. It’s the same look Samsung already rolled out on phones with One UI 8.5.
The Home tab also probably got the biggest glow-up. When you open it, you will see a full render of your actual watch, not just a settings list. You can check battery percentage there too. Notifications, Quick Panel, Tiles, and Apps Screen all get quick buttons on that same page.
The Watch Faces tab changed too. It now shows your entire watch body instead of small thumbnails. That way, you see exactly how a face looks on your model before installing it.
Settings mostly keep the same options, but the icons switch from colorful to a flatter, monochrome gray. Two shortcuts, Find My Watch and Tips and User Guide, also jump to the top of the list.
The About Watch section now shows a picture of your watch instead of plain text. The current build still shows an old Watch 7 image there as a placeholder. Samsung clearly hasn’t swapped in final artwork yet. Last but not least, the Software Update page picked up a new background with a soft, blurred gradient behind it.
What’s coming this month?
Like we said, Samsung is expected to launch the Galaxy Watch 9 and Galaxy Watch Ultra 2 alongside its new foldables later this month. So far, what we know is that the Watch 9 will look the same as its predecessor in terms of design. However, that’s not necessarily a bad thing. The changes will be mostly under the hood, where it will use the new Qualcomm Snapdragon Wear Elite chipset.
As for the Galaxy Watch Ultra 2, rumors claim there won’t be any visible changes to the overall design. However, the bezels are rumored to get slimmer, although we’ll have to wait to see it for ourselves to get a better idea. Other than that, we can probably expect two somewhat somber-looking color options. As for new features, we should have all those details later this month.
