Samsung’s upcoming Galaxy Glasses companion app has leaked online, offering a detailed preview of the smart eyewear’s features, hardware design, and ecosystem integration before its official release. The tool handles everything from initial out-of-box pairing to ongoing device management.
As SammyGuru reports, the software breakdown officially confirms that the audio-centric glasses will run on “One UI XR.” As its name suggests, this is a customized layer built on top of the collaborative Android XR platform developed by Samsung, Google, and Qualcomm.
Unpacking the hardware and case
The application’s setup screens provide an early look at the physical layout. They showcase a frame design developed in partnership with Warby Parker. Beyond the frames themselves, the app files reveal a unique carrying and charging case. Unlike the slim, traditional glasses pouches used by competitors like Meta’s Ray-Bans, Samsung is opting for a design that resembles a supersized wireless earbuds cradle.
The case features an external LED indicator light to broadcast real-time pairing and battery status. According to the UI descriptions, it charges the glasses through direct contact points inside the mold, completely eliminating the need to plug a loose wire directly into the frames.
The ultimate wearable ecosystem
The main interface dashboard acts as a central hub for the user. It lists standard options for accessibility, device localization tools, and customized camera permissions. Notably, the software includes an automated media import toggle that instantly offloads captured photos and videos from the glasses straight to a paired smartphone.
However, the most compelling revelations involve how these glasses communicate with other Galaxy wearables. System strings hidden inside the application code clearly point to cross-device automation frameworks. Specifically, the software references deep integration with the Galaxy Ring. The report exposes command lines that will allow users to control the glasses’ core functions using physical finger gestures. Additionally, the files point to a pre-installed controller app coming to Galaxy Watches, transforming the company’s smartwatches into portable remote controls for your face.
While Samsung has managed to keep a tight lid on exact pricing and regional availability, the project’s launch window is steadily narrowing. Google and Samsung previously confirmed that the Android XR hardware would make its public debut before the end of the year. According to reports, Samsung will hold its next Galaxy Unpacked event on July 22 in London.
The Android Headlines Take
The most interesting aspect of the leak is undoubtedly the potential support for finger gesture controls for Galaxy Ring users. If implemented well, it could become an excellent way to access key features of the glasses without having to press buttons. For Samsung, it could also be a way to increase sales of its finger wearable. The idea has a lot of potential, but everything will depend on how well the integration between both products works.
