Editing photos isn’t particularly difficult. You just tweak a few settings to get the look that you want. It’s honestly a relatively straightforward process. However, if you have a hard time achieving the edits you’re after, AI apps come in handy. In fact, for Samsung users, its Galaxy Enhance-X image editing app is getting a massive redesign in the latest update.
Samsung gives its image editing app a redesign
Galaxy Enhance-X has been quietly improving since Samsung launched it back in 2022. A new One UI 8 update added DSLR-style tools, and more recently it picked up Focus Shift and AI upscaling. But version 16.3.00.31, now rolling out via the Galaxy Store, is bringing even bigger changes.
This Samsung image editing redesign replaces the old single-screen layout entirely with a three-tab interface built around One UI 8.5. The three tabs are Plugins, Home, and History. Home is the main hub where you access photo, video, and document tools. History keeps a record of every past project sorted by media type. “Plugins” is the most interesting addition: it works like a mini add-on system where you download extra tools separately from the Galaxy Store.
Currently, there are three plugins available, as SamMobile notes. This includes CinematicGlow for a soft, dreamy diffusion effect on portraits; FilmStyle, with nine cinema-inspired filters; and SkyGuide, which identifies stars and constellations in night sky shots.
More Than Just a New Look
The Samsung image editing app redesign also expands what the app can actually do. For instance, document editing is a new feature. You can now clean up scans, annotate, translate, convert between JPEG and PDF, and combine multiple pages into a single file. It’s not a replacement for a dedicated scanner app. However, it covers the basics, which is good enough in a pinch.
Samsung has also added batch editing. You can now process multiple photos or videos at once rather than working through them one at a time. That’s a huge quality of life and workflow improvement for anyone. Especially those who shoot a lot and want to apply consistent edits quickly.
However, we should note that the update requires Android 16 and One UI 8.5. This means that for now, it’s currently limited to the Galaxy S26 series and devices that have received the One UI 8.5 update so far. If your phone isn’t there yet, you’ll need to wait a bit longer before you can check it out.
