
Samsung’s Exynos 2700 might finally beat Qualcomm’s best. This is according to prolific leaker Ice Universe, who claims that the “Exynos 270 is reportedly 19% faster than the standard Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 and 9.5% faster than the Pro version” according to Geekbench 6.5 multi-core testing. Wonder why they aren’t using Geekbench 7?
The Exynos 2700 is also reportedly outscoring Qualcomm’s new chips on GPU performance as well. With the Exynos 2700 being 5% higher than the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 Pro. Could Exynos finally be good again?
Of course, this is all with internal testing, not inside any phone that is actually using these chips. Obviously, Samsung does have samples of the new Qualcomm chips, since they are one of Qualcomm’s biggest customers and will likely use them in their ‘Ultra’ phones next year.
Exynos 2700 is also reportedly far more efficient
Ice also mentions that the Exynos 2700 is more efficient, consuming 161mA versus the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 Pro consuming 185mA in a simulated real-world test. This represents a 12.7% lower power consumption. That’s a big deal actually, knowing how inefficient the past few Snapdragon 8 Elite chips have been.
As we had expected, the Exynos 2700 is going to be manufactured on Samsung Foundry’s second-generation 2nm GAA process, SF2P.
If testing continues to go well for the Exynos 2700, we could see Samsung expand its use of Exynos in the Galaxy S27 series early next year. With the Galaxy S26 series, Samsung only used Exynos for the Galaxy S26 and Galaxy S26 Plus in some markets, mainly Europe. While markets like the US had the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 for Galaxy in all three Galaxy S26 models.
There is a big incentive for Samsung to use Exynos over Qualcomm in its flagship phones, since it spent around 13.872 trillion won (around $10 billion USD) on buying processors back in 2023. If they reallocate that to other Samsung divisions, it would really help the company’s financials.
