Samsung appears to be working on flexible-display-type devices for 2027, as five new codenames have just leaked. These include B9, H9, Q9A, Q9B, and Z9. It’s worth noting that the Galaxy Z Flip 8 was B8 and the Galaxy Z Fold 8 was H8 this year.
These devices are said to be correlated with the Galaxy Z Flip 9, Galaxy Z Fold 9, Galaxy Z Fold 9 Ultra, Galaxy Z TriFold 2, and a new “Rollable Flex” tablet. Most of these are said to launch in Summer 2027, with the rollable tablet coming in early 2028.
This also means that rumors about the Galaxy Z Flip 8 being Samsung’s last flip are now incorrect. But there is still a chance that Samsung could decide to cancel the Galaxy Z Flip 9, seeing as we’re still a year out.
Despite “canceling” the Galaxy Z TriFold, here’s more proof that Samsung is working on a successor
The Galaxy Z TriFold was announced late last year, and launched in the US early this year. But it was so popular, despite its $3,000 price tag, that Samsung could not keep it in stock. It was always meant to be a limited edition device, sold in limited quantities. But Samsung did decide to “cancel” the Galaxy Z TriFold. Shortly after that was confirmed, there were rumors that Samsung was working on a Galaxy Z TriFold 2, and now these codenames seem to add to those rumors.
If Samsung does opt to launch four foldables during its Unpacked event next Summer, that is going to be a pretty crazy hot foldable summer. But this is also Samsung’s strategy, offer a phone for every type of user. From those that just want a small phone that fits in their pockets, to those that want a full-sized 10-inch tablet in their pocket.
