Samsung Display is announcing a crop of new gaming display technologies at Computex 2026, including a new ultra slim panel designed specifically for gaming laptops. Samsung makes some of the most sought after gaming monitors and displays on the market, so it’s always intriguing to see where it’s going next and what its latest products will offer to the gaming experience.
Samsung says the event will show off 16 of its latest OLED and QD-OLED products, ranging from 8.8 inches (for gaming handhelds) in size all the way up to 49 inches. This includes the world’s first 4K 360Hz QD-OLED monitor, which will no doubt cost a pretty penny for those who seek a large display with a high refresh rate and high resolution.

Gaming laptops are something of a miracle it feels like these days because of how absolutely powerful they can be, yet how absolutely thin they can be on top of that. Where just 10-12 years ago gaming laptops looked and felt like huge-chunky behemoths, these days, you can pick up a pretty powerful gaming laptop that weighs close to 4 lbs. and is no thicker than 14-16mm. There’s a lot of engineering magic that goes into that. Part of it, though, is most certainly the thickness of the display.
Samsung is unveiling a new ultra-slim gaming laptop display to help manufacturers slim down the overall machine. Because every little bit helps when your gaming rig is something you might want to stuff into your backpack. More to the point, if manufacturers are working with slimmer displays, that might leave them some room to make the bottom half a little more spacious for cooling and other components.
According to Samsung, this new laptop display is not only using OLED technology, but that it also “reduces module outer-edge thickness by more than 20% compared to company’s panels currently in mass production.”
Of course, for those that game on a desktop, the upcoming 4K monitor with a 360Hz refresh rate is something to take notice of. At 49 inches, it’s a huge monitor. So you’ll need a lot of desk space. It also uses the QD-OLED Penta Tandem technology. Samsung says this leads to overall longer lifespans of the panel but visually speaking, it also makes game scenes brighter and offer sharper clarity. Samsung didn’t offer any details about pricing or a launch date for the new monitor. Nor did it confirm when devices will start incorporating this new panel tech.
