Despite OnePlus pulling out of North America and Europe earlier this month, the company is still preparing its flagship OnePlus 16, which should be launching this fall. It is expected to be exclusive to China, however.
But, according to leaker Digital Chat Station, the OnePlus 16 will sport a “6.78-inch LIPO ultra-narrow bezel screen with equal sides, and the camera deco remains a small square matrix. The overall ID design directions remain unchanged, with the latest release date in October.”
Previous reports had stated that the OnePlus 16 bezels would measure in at less than 1mm, and that the display would support 185Hz refresh.
In separate responses, DCS also mentioned that it will have a 9,000mAh battery. This would be another pretty substantial jump from the 7300mAh battery on the OnePlus 15 from this past year.
OnePlus 16 cameras could get a major improvement
The OnePlus 16 is also slated to get some big changes to the cameras, with a new 200-megapixel primary camera, along with a 50-megapixel ultrawide, and a 50-megapixel telephoto sensor. This is a very similar camera setup to what the OPPO Find X9 Pro sported last year.
OnePlus is also expected to include 100W wired and 50W wireless charging on the OnePlus 16. Of course, it’ll be powered by the new Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 Pro chipset.
This will be OnePlus’ first phone to ship with ColorOS, as the company announced earlier this month that all OnePlus devices would transition over to ColorOS 17 with the Android 17 update launching this fall.
Unfortunately, the OnePlus 16 won’t get a global release as the OnePlus 15 did. It might not even leave China, as the company is reportedly focusing on mid-range and budget devices for India. And they’ve left virtually every other market. It’s really unfortunate, because this is shaping up to be a really impressive device.
