Android 17-based One UI 9.0 update started rolling out to the Galaxy Z Fold 6 and Galaxy Z Flip 6 phones less than a week ago. That was the initial rollout that started in South Korea, Samsung’s homeland.
The Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 6 & Flip 6 are now getting One UI 9 in the US
Well, that One UI 9 update is now reaching the Galaxy Z Fold 6 and Galaxy Z Flip 6 users in the US as well. It’s now live for factory-unlocked units, and it’s rolling out in stages. You may have to be patient.
You can always manually check whether the update is available or not by going to Settings -> Software update -> Check for updates. Your phone will, however, let you know when it’s available on its own; checking manually can speed up the process… at times.
One UI 9.0 does bring some new features to the table, along with some improvements and optimizations. It delivers a more customizable Quick Panel. You can now tweak it exactly the way you want.
More customizations, deeper Gemini integration, and more changes are included
Deeper Gemini integration is also a part of the update, as are enhancements to Samsung DeX and Samsung Notes. New accessibility features are also thrown into the mix, as are some new AI features.
Needless to say, this is a major new update, as it’s based on Android 17. It’s the first Android 17-based update for the two phones. The next rather big update will occur in Q1 2027 when One UI 9.5 arrives.
That update will first launch with the Galaxy S27 series. Those four devices are expected to arrive in January or February. The Galaxy Z Fold 6 and Flip 6 will have to wait for that update for a bit, though, as they’re behind the Galaxy S26 series, Galaxy Z Fold 7, and Galaxy Z Flip 7 in the pecking order.
