Apple will do something rather surprising for iPhone Duo buyers. The company will customize the iPhone Duo for you at its US Apple Store if you want it. What’s this exactly about? Let’s find out.
Apple will offer to customize your iPhone Duo in-store, if you want
Mark Gurman, a trusted tipster, says that “Apple retail stores will have a system to customize the boot of the device with the buyer’s name.” So, it’ll be able to say “Hello, Mark”, for example. That greeting will be there every time you fire up the phone.
He also noted that this option will be available in the US only, while saying that you’ll be able to get it in English or Spanish. This is an option; of course, it’s not a mandatory thing, even though Mark didn’t make that clear, but of course it is.
Some will see this as a great little touch; others, not so much. Why? Well, resale value. Imagine if John buys a phone that has a “Hello, Mark” greeting on it. From what we can tell at this point, users will not be able to alter this.
We’re not sure if you’ll be able to change this once you decide to sell the phone
We’re not sure if you’ll be able to tweak this by taking the iPhone Duo to the Apple Store, but it’s possible. Then again, it could be a one-time thing that Apple is offering, which brings into question the resale value. It remains to be seen.
As many of you know, the iPhone Duo is Apple’s very first foldable smartphone, and it was announced last month. The phone is not yet available to purchase, though.
The iPhone Duo pre-orders are starting this Friday, October 16. In-store deliveries will begin on October 23. So if you’re planning to get the iPhone Duo, you won’t have to wait for long in order to do so.
