It’s been a couple of years since Microsoft announced a new Surface laptop, but during Computex 2026, the company revealed the brand-new Surface Laptop Ultra, a laptop that it says was built for world makers. Powered by NVIDIA Blackwell architecture with the RTX Spark platform at its core, the Microsoft Surface Laptop Ultra is the company’s new ultra premium flagship.
While Microsoft hasn’t announced an official price tag, with the specs on offer, and today’s current supply climate and resulting price increases, there’s bound to be a pretty high price tag. That’s before you factor in that this is a laptop that’s designed for professionals working in fields that need high-powered tech to do their jobs. Microsoft will no doubt offer a variety of configurations with this machine. However, it can come with up to 128GB of RAM, and RAM is not exactly cheap these days. Pair that with NVIDIA’s most powerful GPU technologies and the new RTX Spark SoC, and you have a recipe for some pricey hardware.
The Microsoft Surface Laptop Ultra features “all-day battery life” and a bright display
A full list of specs isn’t available yet but Microsoft doesn’t stay hush-hush on everything. While it does mention the RTX Spark SoC as one of the definitive key aspects of the laptop, it also mentions details about battery life and the brightness of the display. That’s in addition to the display’s size.
Microsoft says the Surface Laptop Ultra has all-day battery life so you can keep working without worry that you’ll need to keep the charger on you at all times. Which sounds like a huge benefit for busy professionals who might have to travel or commute for work often.
In terms of display tech, the Surface Laptop Ultra is sporting a 15-inch mini-LED display with a likely 16:10 aspect ratio, as well as a peak brightness of up to 2,000 nits. That’s certainly not the brightness laptop display out there but it’s towards the top. And plenty bright to use in most lighting conditions. Microsoft also says it has support for connectivity options that include HDMI, USB-C, USB-A, and an SD card slot.
