All eyes are on Apple and its upcoming foldable iPhone. Has Apple spent all these years learning from the mistakes of its competitors? Or are they too late to the party? For fans, there might be some good news. According to Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman, early iPhone Ultra testers have left pretty positive reviews.
iPhone Ultra early testers have good things to say
According to the early testers of the iPhone Ultra, many of them seem to be pleased with the pocketability of the phone. Note that unlike the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra, which adopts a more square-ish shape, the iPhone Ultra is going for a more tablet-like shape. As a result, it has made the external display smaller at a rumored size of 5.5-inches.
This is the smallest display for an iPhone that we’ve seen in a while. So, it’s not surprising that many are finding the device to have good pocketability. Secondly, the testers have also praised the phone’s feel and durability of the hinge, along with the iPad-like interface.Â
We previously said that Apple adopting a tablet-like form factor makes sense.
Apple’s App Store is home to thousands of iPad-ready apps. This means that users don’t need to wait for developers to optimize their apps for the phone. The testers are also praising the display, which apparently makes for a pretty good camera viewfinder.
It’s not all good
That being said, it’s far from being the perfect phone. The iPhone Ultra, like a lot of other foldables, has compromised on its camera. There are only two cameras on the back of the phone and it lacks a telephoto. This could be a dealbreaker for some. Plus, Apple has ditched Face ID in favor of Touch ID. While some might prefer Touch ID, Face ID is undoubtedly more secure.
Plus, you’re paying for a $2,000 (at least) phone. If Apple’s flagships, which are around half the price, have triple cameras and Face ID, this is quite disappointing. However, we’re sure that future iterations will probably see Apple make improvements to the phone. But for now, if you plan to be an early adopter, these are some of the trade offs you’ll have to consider.
