According to the rumors, Apple is planning something big for its 20th anniversary iPhone. This includes changing up the displays to something a bit unusual for the Cupertino company. Now, a new leak from tipster Digital Chat Station has revealed additional details about the rumored iPhone 20 bezel-less displays.
iPhone 20 to sport bezel-less displays
In their post, Digital Chat Station seems to have confirmed what we have been hearing all this while, and that is the iPhone 20 could feature bezel-less displays. Now, the screen itself will be flat, according to the tipster. However, it will come with a glass cover, which through optical refraction, will result in a borderless effect.
Worth noting is that we have heard rumors Apple was also attempting curved edges for the display. So we’re not sure if Digital Chat Station’s claim of a glass cover is an indication of that, or something else entirely.
The tipster also hinted that the displays for the models will get bigger. This is something we heard about recently as well. The latest post suggests the displays of the iPhone 20 could go up by around 0.1-inches. This doesn’t sound like much, but if Apple really ditches the bezels, this could look amazing.
Some have already speculated Apple was already hinting at its plans. iOS 26 was released last year with its new Liquid Glass design language. Some thinks this is Apple bringing design elements from visionOS over to iOS, but with all the talk about glass and metal, maybe it was also Apple hinting at what’s to come.
Coming in 2027
Apple’s 20th anniversary iPhone is expected to launch in 2027. We’re not sure if Apple is still going with a staggered launch, meaning the Pro and Pro Max models will launch in 2027, while the base models will launch in the early part of 2028. We’ll have to wait and see.
There were initially some rumors that claimed Apple cancelled plans for its all-glass iPhone. The report alleged that Apple ran into manufacturing issues due to poor yields, thus forcing them to abandon their plans. However, Mark Gurman at Bloomberg refuted those claims, saying that the glass-centric iPhone is still on track for next year.
