As some of you already know, Samsung has started testing One UI 9.5 on the Galaxy S26 series recently. That ended up happening weeks ahead of schedule. Having said that, a rather interesting feature was spotted.
Samsung will finally be adding App Lock to Galaxy devices, with One UI 9.5
It seems like One UI 9.5 will finally bring the app lock feature to Samsung Galaxy smartphones and tablets. Samsung does have a Secure Folder option to offer, which works great. However, there is no option to lock an app or game that you’d like to keep private.
Well, that’s about to change with One UI 9.5. The feature was expected with One UI 9, but that did not happen. Fahad Ali Javed, a tipster, discovered that Samsung developed the App Lock feature.
It can be accessed by pressing and holding an app or game icon and tapping the lock-shaped icon in the top-right corner of the menu. This will allow users to lock any app or game from the home screen or the app drawer.
Needless to say, this feature uses your existing phone PIN/password, so you won’t have to remember another one for this. Unlocking apps works the same as unlocking your phone, a tipster says.
One UI 9.5 is expected to debut with the Galaxy S27 series
One UI 9.5 is expected to debut with the Galaxy S27 series in Q1 next year. One UI 8.5 debuted with the Galaxy S26 series, so it makes sense. It will be based on Android 17, just like One UI 9.0, which comes pre-installed on the Galaxy Z Fold 8 series.
The Samsung Galaxy S27 series will launch in either January or February. The Galaxy S26 series arrived in February, while the Galaxy S25 series was announced in January. It all depends on what Samsung decides to do next year.
