GTA 6 players will have a whole lot of exploration to do when it comes to filling out the entirety of the map within the game, as it’s absolutely massive (by Rockstar’s own admission), leading players to spending no insignificant amount of time running around the game world to check out every corner. According to Rockstar, the map of Leonida, which is GTA 6’s fictional version of Florida, is going to be twice the size of the GTA 5 map.
It contains six different regions meant to represent different real-world areas of Florida, with Vice City being Miami, and Grassrivers being based on the Everglades, for example.
Exploration of the entire map will not happen during the GTA 6 campaign
When GTA 6 lands on PlayStation and Xbox consoles on November 19, players are going to have their hands full with stuff to do for quite a while. The campaign will be filled with quests, surely, but it won’t take people through every corner of the world map, instead, players will need to use their exploration skills and sense of wonder to discover a lot of the world map on their own.
Rockstar confirmed in an interview with Game Informer that the campaign will only take players through part of the map of Leonida, and players will have to discover the rest. of course, there will be reasons to do so. There will be tons of different animal species to discover, 170 in total, and Rockstar has confirmed that GTA 6 will also have legendary animals to hunt down just like in Red Dead Redemption 2. Players will also have side quests and other things to find in parts of the map that the campaign doesn’t really cover, so Rockstar is giving players lots of incentives to give in to their curious nature and start wandering around.
