Earlier this year, there were reports of major connectivity issues with Android Auto. Users complained that they were unable to connect their phones. On its part, Google did roll out fixes shortly after, but more fixes are now coming our way for those still experiencing the issue. Google has pushed out a new Play Services update to fix any Android Auto connection issues.
Google rolls out an update with additional fixes for Android Auto connection issues
The changelog for Google Play Services v26.22 includes connectivity-related bug fixes for Android Auto. The excerpt from the changelog apparently reads, “Bug fixes for Device Connections related services.” While it doesn’t explicitly specify what bugs it’s fixing, it’s still positive news for Android Auto users who are still dealing with connection issues even after initial fixes from Google.
It’s quite clear that Google isn’t giving up on the issue and wants to smooth things out for its Android Auto users. We just hope this update fixes things for good this time. This is considering connectivity is a major issue.
The issue affected both wired and wireless users
As a refresher, earlier this year, in March, many users reported that they were unable to connect their phones to Android Auto reliably. The major pain points were dropped connections, Android Auto not launching automatically, and even failing to pair. This mostly affected Samsung Galaxy and Pixel devices. Some Motorola users also had to deal with connectivity issues.
The connectivity problem affected both wired and wireless connections across different car brands and models. However, the majority of the complaints were from wired users. It did affect people who previously used the same phone, cable, and port. Despite initial fixes, the connection issues have reportedly persisted for some users, and Google is hoping this latest update will iron them out completely.
