Genshin Impact is a demanding game that requires the use of considerable hardware resources if you want top graphics and smooth gameplay, and that’s reportedly something the Pixel 11 devices aren’t capable of in the graphics department as the game doesn’t have proper support.
The lack of support isn’t for the Pixel 11 series phones themselves, but rather for the GPU the phones are using, which is the PowerVR GPU inside the Tensor G6 chip. According to reports from users who have tried playing the game on their own devices, Genshin Impact on the Pixel 11 and Pixel 11 Pro has caused a variety of problems. One user reports that the game had a purple screen which prevented the game from being playable in a normal state.
Genshin Impact customer support says PowerVR GPU in Pixel 11 isn’t officially compatible
HoYoverse itself isn’t stating that the Pixel 11 and the PowerVR GPU inside of it are the problem. The lack of support for that GPU is reportedly coming from customer support for Genshin Impact. According to that support agent, the PowerVR GPU doesn’t meet the game’s minimum requirements. Google has a slightly different opinion.
Google states that the issue isn’t with the PowerVR GPU as a whole, but that it has to do with game optimization. To fix this, Google is said to be working with HoYoverse to get optimization in working order for players. This is said to be a problem specifically with Genshin Impact and not other games in the HoYoverse library such as Zenless Zone Zero or Honkai Star Rail.
The report from Digital Trends states that the problem is isolated to Genshin Impact. While Google is currently working on the fix for this problem, neither Google nor HoYoverse have given out an official date for when the patch will be released.
