Just last month, the Galaxy Ring from Samsung received approval for the more advanced or otherwise new and improved Sleep Apnea Detection feature, but only in its home country of South Korea, with no word on when it would be getting FDA approval for users who own the ring in the US. This is a very similar feature to the Sleep Apnea Detection that was already available, but it has some more powerful capabilities and is now powered by AI to allow for that enhanced functionality.
The regular Sleep Apnea Detection feature was approved by the FDA for US Galaxy Ring owners way back in July, so users should already have access to that version. Samsung has also officially confirmed that US-based users will be on their way to getting the enhanced version of the feature.
The Galaxy Ring has received FDA approval for the improved Sleep Apnea Detection
New reports have surfaced that Samsung has confirmed FDA approval for the Sleep Apnea Detection on the Galaxy Ring has now been achieved, which means the new and improved version of this feature will be rolling out to users in the US in due course.
Samsung says in its official post that the feature is now available through the Samsung Health Monitor app, so users should already see it, though these updates also sometimes go out in stages, and it may not yet show up for everyone.
The upgraded feature is already available on Samsung’s Galaxy Watch 9, but Samsung also plans to bring it older watches. This will include the Galaxy Watch 8 and the Galaxy Watch 8 Classic, and then later on, the Galaxy Watch 7. Samsung says this feature will arrive on older watches with future software updates, but it does not confirm actual dates or times for these two devices.
