The Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 8 was recently spotted in One UI 9, alongside the Wide Fold, aka Galaxy Z Fold 8 Wide. Sketches of both devices popped up, showing them from the back. Well, the Wide Fold just popped up again, and this time around, we get to see the device from the front.
Samsung’s Wide Fold just popped up in One UI 9 again, this time its front side(s)
The images were spotted by The Cipher Project this time around, and you can see them below. You get to see the Wide Fold’s front side in both folded and unfolded formats, in both light and dark variations.
These are only sketches that were spotted in early One UI 9 builds; however, they do represent the final product, kind of. The back side that we saw yesterday does go hand-in-hand with the CAD-based renders we’ve exclusively shared a while back.
You can see how different the format of this foldable will be compared to the Galaxy Z Fold 8. The Galaxy Z Fold 8 is expected to offer a near 1:1 display aspect ratio, while the Wide Fold will offer a 4:3 display aspect ratio, based on what we know thus far.
It will have a much different aspect ratio than the Galaxy Z Fold 8
You can immediately see that this orientation, when the phone is unfolded, will work better for landscape video. It won’t be perfect, as most such video content is in 16:9 or wider format, but this is much better than 1:1, that’s for sure. Black bars will be notably thinner.
It will also do well for apps that run side-by-side. This will be great for running even more than 2 apps side-by-side, and we’re hoping that Samsung will find the right way to take advantage of all that screen real estate.
As you probably already know, the Wide Fold will feature two cameras on the back, not three like the Galaxy Z Fold 8. It will launch side-by-side with the Galaxy Z Fold 8, though, and that is expected to happen in July.
