The design of the next wide foldable has just been officially revealed. The device in question is the Xiaomi 18 Fold, and Xiaomi decided to show it to the public prior to launch.
Before we get to the design itself, it’s worth noting that the company confirmed the device will launch on September 7. During that event, the company will also announce new electric cars a nd the Xiaomi Mi Pad 9 Pro Max tablet.

In any case, let’s focus on the Xiaomi 18 Fold. The red version of the device has been shown, and you can see it in the gallery below. Xiaomi refers to this foldable as a “mid-folding” form factor.
The device was co-engineered with Leica, and it has an ultra-narrow bezel design with large super-elliptical corner radii. A flat wraparound chassis is also a part of the package, and the same goes for a horizontal, racetrack-style camera housing. There are three cameras in there, by the way, and an LED flash.
We also know that a 7.58-inch main display will be included, along with a 5.38-inch cover panel. Xiaomi will also use its next-gen “dragon bone” hinge, which features a water-drop profile, a three-level linkage system, and edge-to-edge protective framing.
The internal display uses a dual-layer Ultra-Thin Glass (UTG) to reinforce puncture resistance. The external display is protected by the Xiaomi Dragon Crystal Glass 3.0. The frame is made from aerospace-grade 7-series aluminum.
It will be more durable, and use Xiaomi’s new in-house chip
Xiaomi also reports a 258% increase in resistance against sharp-object impacts and a 214% improvement in drop resistance against steel ball impacts (compared to the Xiaomi MIX Fold 4).
The phone will be fueled by the company’s new chip, the XRING O3 processor. That will be a deca-core chip, with the G2-Ultra NX architecture for its GPU, and 8 integrated NX neural accelerators.
It will support LPDDR6 RAM, while it managed to surpass a score of 5.22 million on AnTuTu. 85% better graphics rendering is mentioned, along with a 64% better power consumption compared to its predecessor. A 45% improvement in AI processing performance is also mentioned.
A 6,000mAh battery will be included, and 67W charging supported
The Xiaomi 18 Fold will include a 6,000mAh battery. That will be a Jinshajiang battery, which utilizes high-density stacking tech. It has a 20% silicone content formulation and achieves an energy density of 920 Wh/L. The phone will support 67W wired charging and 50W wireless charging too.
Needless to say, this phone is coming to compete directly with the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 8, Huawei Pura X Max, and the upcoming Apple iPhone Ultra.
