If you use OpenAI’s tools to manage your daily workload, your routine just got a lot less tedious. OpenAI has officially updated ChatGPT and Codex to support multiple Gmail, Google Calendar, and Google Contacts accounts. The goal is to effectively eliminate a major point of friction that forced users to constantly disconnect and reconnect different Google logins during their workflows.
As confirmed by OpenAI DX engineer Gabriel Chua and reported by 9to5Mac, the new feature lets subscribers on Plus, Pro, Business, and Enterprise plans link several Google accounts to a single workspace.
Prior to this update, OpenAI’s Google connectors restricted users to a single account. That meant anyone trying to balance a personal Gmail inbox with a corporate Google Workspace schedule had to pick one or constantly sign in and out.
How the new setup works in practice
Connecting additional accounts is straightforward. Users can open the Plugins or Connectors section in the left sidebar, locate Gmail, Google Calendar, or Google Contacts, and click the gear icon to add a second or third profile through standard Google authorization.
Once linked, the assistant pulls context across your connected profiles without merging them behind the scenes. That means you can use a ChatGPT multi-account Gmail workflow to search for receipts across an old personal archive while simultaneously checking your corporate calendar for open meeting slots.
Instead of running two separate searches or switching profiles manually, you can simply ask the chatbot to check your schedule, and it will scan all authorized calendars in a single step.
Addressing developer needs and enterprise security
The push for multi-account capability gained traction on community forums and GitHub repositories. It’s a response to power users and developers using Codex that have been asking for better identity boundaries. While the update solves a major headache for Google users, open requests remain on GitHub for similar multi-account support across other workplace platforms. Slack, Microsoft 365 and Google Drive are on the request list.
OpenAI notes that while the AI can reference multiple inboxes in a conversation, connected accounts remain strictly bound by their original app permissions. If you use a corporate account, your company’s Google Workspace administrator can still restrict or block third-party integrations based on internal security policies.
It took a year to refine the initial single-account connectors launched in mid-2025. However, this update brings ChatGPT much closer to how people actually work. That is, juggling multiple inboxes, shared calendars and distinct profiles daily.
