GTA 6 is reportedly free of micro transactions, according to Rockstar who has spoken with Kinda Funny Games about the launch of GTA 6 coming this Fall alongside some of the game’s many newly revealed systems and features.
Last week on August 27, Rockstar showed off an extended look at GTA 6 by way of a trailer on Netflix, which Netflix had exclusivity on for three hours before the same footage was published to Rockstar’s official YouTube channel. In the nearly 28 minutes of gameplay, players were greeted to the unveiling of the new six-star wanted system, the ability to use suppressive fire to avoid killing cops and civilians, new requirements for stealing cars, and much more.
What players weren’t treated to was a plethora of battle pass systems and monthly or bi-monthly rollouts of micro transactions and store extras.
GTA 6 will not have micro transactions or AI-generated content at launch
Two hot topics in gaming lately are the presence of micro transactions and the presence of AI-generated content. According to Rockstar, GTA 6 won’t contain either when the game launches on November 19. It’s worth mentioning that Rockstar is referring to the main game with a single-player experience. The studio hasn’t confirmed the existence of a GTA 6 online mode. However, the currently available GTA Online does have micro transactions.
Gaming is at a point where several single-player games have launched with optional content you can purchase. Assassin’s Creed games are notorious for this, and even gaming industry darling FromSoftware is catching a little heat for it recently, having just launched a $5 content pack called the Tarnished Pack for Elden Ring. This launched alongside the Tarnished Edition that came out last week for Nintendo Switch 2.
As for generative AI, Rockstar has confirmed to Kinda Funny Games that no generative AI was used in the creation of GTA 6.
