Bose has officially announced the QuietComfort (2nd Gen) headphones, set with a launch date of August 8 for pre-orders. The announcement follows a pretty substantial leak that included several images of the headphone design, along with all of the available colors, and a few features listed as part of promotional slides.
Bose is now laying everything out on the table by confirming all features and specs, as well as the price and when and where you’ll be able to buy these new headphones. The QuietComfort (2nd Gen) aren’t a huge departure from the previous model. Bose says they come with a refreshed design with a more modern aesthetic that’s meant for “comfort and style.” Don’t let that fool you though. The refreshed design brings in significant upgrades that Bose is using to target improvements to comfort, looks, and functionality.
For example, the addition of the TrueSpatial technology. This new tech focuses on giving the headphones new immersive audio modes that include Still, Motion, and Cinema. The TrueSpatial tech is new to the Bose headphones, but those modes in particular have been available on the QuietComfort Ultra.

Bose is all about comfort and style with this new generation of headphones. They don’t look too different from the previous at first glance, but they have changed a little. The ear cups feature a shape that’s a little more like a pill and the inner headband and ear cushions use a softer synthetic leather.
Bose has also improved the clamping force of the ear cups. This will help the headphones stay fitted on your head securely but also still feel lightweight so you don’t get fatigued from wearing them. Bose says these will last for up to 24 hours on a single charge without the immersive audio turned on. If you enable it, that slides down to up to 18 hours. The Bose QuietComfort (2nd Gen) will launch for pre-orders on August 8 for $359, with headphones shipping by August 13. They will be available in five colors: Eucalyptus Green, Black, White Smoke, Rosewood Mauve, and Dewdrop Mint. There was also a sixth color from the leak called Hazlenut Taupe, but that isn’t available on Bose’s website.
