Even if you’re in really good shape it can be taxing on your joints, muscles, bones, and your entire body to trek through hiking trails that go up and down mountains, which is why we love Hypershell’s unveiling of the Halo exoskeleton that it brought to IFA 2026.
The Hypershell Halo isn’t Hypershell’s first exoskeleton, but it is the first one the company’s made, that any company has made actually, that introduces four hip and knee joints that all work together as a single system during movement. The hip and knee joints are all powered, and there are over 30 sensors that capture the user’s movements constantly, allowing Halo to anticipate how and where the user is going to move so it can deliver the proper assistance. All without the user having to switch modes.
1,490 W of power output that fits in a backpack
Aside from the synced motion of all four joints working together, the Hypershell Halo is also a powerful system for full-leg motion that packs down to just 8L. You get 1,490 W of power output to help with mobility and when you don’t need the Halo anymore for the day, you can stuff it into your backpack and carry it with you more easily.
What’s more is that it only weighs about 2.6kg in total, which is just over 5 lbs. so all in all not a whole lot of extra weight if you account for that when packing everything. On top of all that, it’s IP54-rated for dust and splashing water, and you can put it on and take it off extremely fast. You just have to use the Strapless adjustment and the QuickFit levers to dial in the precise fit, and once that’s done, you can put the Halo in about 20 seconds and you’re ready go, then take it off in as little as 5 seconds when the day is over. All of these reasons are why we gave the Hypershell Halo the Best of IFA 2026 award.
