It’s reported that Samsung was working on One UI 9.0 for the Galaxy S23 series a couple of months ago. Fast forward to now, the South Korean giant has officially released the One UI 9.0 beta version for the Galaxy S23 lineup. Those interested can sign up and experience the new UI before the stable release.
Samsung Galaxy S23 series gets a taste of One UI 9.0 beta
The first One UI 9.0 beta update for the Samsung Galaxy S23, S23 Plus, and Galaxy S23 Ultra is live in India. It reportedly carries the firmware version S91xBXXUAZZHL and a download size of over 3.4GB. That said, the version number and size of download may differ by model. The update also includes the August 2026 security patch. This should make the phones more secure than before for users.
In order to get to the One UI 9.0 beta, you need to have the Samsung Members app. Sign in with the same Samsung account you’re using on your device. You’ll now see a banner for the One UI 9.0 beta program. Tap on it and enroll your eligible device.

Once that’s done, open the Settings app on your phone, navigate to Software update, and tap Check for updates. Hit download and then tap the Restart button to initiate the installation process. The entire process should take some time, and you won’t be able to use the phone. Since this is a major update, ensure you are on a stable Wi-Fi network and have at least 30-40% charge.
Samsung One UI 9.0 is a major upgrade based on Android 17 bringing some significant changes and improvements. The OS offers a customizable quick settings panel and enhancements to Samsung native apps like Notes. Samsung DeX is also seeing some improvements. The Galaxy AI features also get some improvements. Since this is a beta build, it might not be suitable as a daily driver, as there might be bugs and random app crashes.
