XREAL is at AWE (Augmented World Expo) with some pretty important announcements surrounding Project Aura.
We first heard about Project Aura last year at Google I/O, as one of the first products to launch with Android XR. Though we didn’t hear much more about it until Google I/O last month, where XREAL was actually doing demos of the new device. I got the chance to spend a few minutes going hands-on with Project Aura, and couldn’t wait for it to launch. Now, XREAL is dropping the ‘Project’ from the name, it’s simply ‘AURA’.
First up, and most importantly, is the launch date. We still don’t have anything concrete, but XREAL is planning to launch AURA in the Fall in the US, UK, Japan, Canada, and South Korea, with additional European markets coming soon after. There’s also no pricing being announced yet, but you can secure your spot with a $99 reservation.
XREAL is making it somewhat simple. So you can reserve your spot for $99 in the US, UK, and Japan. Which will be put towards your purchase price of AURA. But for the next two weeks, you can reserve for $99 and get a $199 credit towards your purchase – shaving $100 off of the purchase price.
XREAL is using Qualcomm’s new Snapdragon Reality Elite chip
Also announced today by XREAL and Qualcomm, the XREAL AURA is using the company’s new XR chip, the Snapdragon Reality Elite. This is a name change for Qualcomm, coming from the Snapdragon XR2+ Gen 2 to the Snapdragon Reality Elite.

The Snapdragon Reality Elite is going to help power the Android XR experience on XREAL AURA. Keep in mind that this is really the first all-in-one product from XREAL, as all of their other glasses do require a phone to plug into and run the experience. Whereas AURA is all done on the puck, that is included.
