GTA 6 launch day sales are almost certainly going to be a thing of wonder to behold. While the game doesn’t launch until later this year, fans and analysts alike are already making their predictions for what is possible once the game lands for PlayStation consoles as well as Xbox consoles this Fall.
As hyped as people are for this game, it wouldn’t be surprising to see it do some incredibly high numbers on the day of release. After all, GTA 5 has been one of the most successful games of the past decade and beyond, and GTA 6 is supposed to be even more ambitious. Suggesting it might also be more popular and thus more successful.
While fans are still waiting on another trailer for the game, attentions for it have turned to how many units Rockstar and Take-Two will sell on day one. According to a recent poll made on ResetEra, the majority of users polled think it could be somewhere between 12 million and 20 million. There were 1,324 votes, and 383 of those votes (28.9%) think it could be between 12 million and 15 million. But it could go higher. 368 votes (about 27.8%) think the game could do between 16 million and 20 million. Then there are 228 people (17.2%) who believe it could hit over 25 million copies sold. It could actually be much higher than that.
GTA 6 launch day sales predicted to hit over 46 million
It’s sometimes fun for fans of a particular game to muse about the potential success of a game they’re eagerly awaiting. That being said, there are people who sort of do this kind of thing for a living. For instance, analysts that work for banking firms are often found making statements about potential sales numbers. That happens to be the case with Piper Sandler.
The investment bank has a research firm and has reportedly put together a model that aims to predict the day-one sales for GTA 6. As noted by Wccftech, the model is based substantially on the estimated weekly visitors of the r/GTA6 subreddit and the currently weekly visitors several months ahead of the game’s release. With its model, the firm predicts the game could sell around 46 million units or more on the first day.
There’s more to the model though. In addition to tracking those weekly numbers, Piper Sandler applies a multiplier based on the sales numbers of earlier game launches. This has resulted in the number of around 46 million. It’s worth noting that this number is much higher than some even incredibly successful games see over their lifetime. So it’ll be interesting to see if this is even possible for Rockstar and Take-Two to achieve. Of course, the cost of the game may factor into this if it’s above $70 for the standard version.
