You know all those “reaction” types of videos you see on TikTok? Well, now it looks like those reaction TikTok videos are coming to X. In an X post, Nikita Bier announced the feature is coming to the iOS version of the app first.
X to get TikTok reaction videos
Whether you’re a fan of these reaction videos or see value in them doesn’t matter. But for those who do and have always wanted to create their own, this is actually good news. The X app now is getting a feature that lets users create their own TikTok reaction videos easily.
All users need to do is tap on the repost button, select “React with Video,” and you’re good to go. In many ways, this feature actually makes more sense on X. Even before Twitter became X, users were retweeting posts with their own captions and comments. That was how we used to react to posts back in the day. Now with the “reaction” function built into the app, it’s basically the same thing, except with video.
Like we said earlier, Bier notes that this feature is currently only available on iOS. However, a X spokesperson told TechCrunch that it will be coming to Android and the web soon. How soon? We’ll just have to wait and see. But in the meantime, iOS users just need to make sure they have the latest version if they want to check it out.
TikTok’s been doing it for a while
Reaction videos aren’t new. We’ve seen it on other platforms such as YouTube. But the version with the floating head is kind of a TikTok thing. The feature has been around since at least 2021 and has been more or less one of TikTok’s trademark videos. But now that X is introducing it, it looks like TikTok could have a potential challenger.
We know that X has been trying to make videos one of its main focuses, and this new option seems like a good place to start. Will it catch on the same way it did with TikTok? Only time will tell.
