It was recently rumored that Walmart is working on a budget Google TV Stick. Now, a new report claims that while the new Walmart’s Onn 4K Google TV Stick will flaunt affordable pricing, it will not support Dolby Vision HDR playback. However, the pricing alone is shocking and could potentially overshadow the missing features.
No Dolby Vision support for Walmart’s new budget 4K Google TV Stick
Walmart’s new Onn 4K streaming device has reportedly hit the stores. Some buyers were able to successfully grab the product. Early reports suggested that the device would carry a price tag of $30. However, a recent buyer reported that the device was available for only $19.88 at their nearest Walmart store. This is an impressive price, especially when compared to the competitor devices that cost as much as $50.
The aggressive pricing could position the device as one of the most affordable 4K streaming solutions available in the market. Further, despite its low cost, the stick offers solid value for everyday streaming needs. It is designed as a compact replacement for earlier Onn devices and integrates the Google TV interface. However, as mentioned earlier, the device doesn’t carry Dolby Vision content playback support.
The device packs all the basic specifications needed for everyday streaming
Apart from the pricing information, the user has also shared some other important details about the gadget. As per the information, the Onn 4K Google TV Stick supports a Dolby Atmos surround sound system. Moreover, it supports HDR playback on supported apps like YouTube and Kodi. However, the HDR playback support is not going to be on the same level as devices such as the Google TV Streamer.
Last but not least, the streaming device boots on the Android 14 TV operating system right out of the box. In the coming days, the device is expected to be available for sale in more regions.
