Yesterday, Vivo confirmed that its X300 Ultra flagship will utilize Sony’s best sensor yet, the Sony LYTIA-901 aka LYT-901. Today, the company talked about the phone’s periscope telephoto camera, and it seems like the Vivo X300 Ultra is taking a considerable step forward in that regard as well.
Vivo X300 Ultra’s 200MP ‘Thanos’ periscope telephoto camera is looking outstanding on paper
The company will include a 200-megapixel sensor from Samsung, the ISOCELL HP0, inside the phone. That sensor will be combined with ZEISS optics, of course. Vivo is calling this setup the ‘Thanos’ periscope telephoto camera.
Vivo says that it further refined this sensor through deep customization. Improved color rendering, autofocus, HDR performance, and power efficiency have all been mentioned by the company.
A big upgrade is a 3-degree OIS, compared to 0.7-1-degree on most phones. The Vivo X200 Ultra was ahead of the pack in that regard with 1.2-degree OIS, and this will completely obliterate that. This will essentially work as a mini gimbal on its own. That should help reduce shake and thus allow you to capture even better photos in low-light.
This telephoto camera will also be able to rack motion at 60 fps, compared to 30 fps on most phones out there. Vivo also shared a brief video of the camera in action. You can see it below.
The phone will also bring massive videography improvements
Vivo is not playing around, not at all. All this, and massive videography improvements that the company mentioned at MWC 2026… we’re quite excited for this phone. Not to mention that the Vivo X300 Ultra will become the first ‘Ultra’ phone from the company to reach global markets.
The Vivo X300 Pro is already the best camera smartphone on the market, and the Vivo X300 Ultra is looking to take things to a whole new level. We’ll see improvements across the board.
The only piece of the puzzle that is still missing is the ultrawide camera, but we’re expecting great hardware in that regard as well. The Vivo X200 Ultra arguably still has the best ultrawide camera on the market, so there’s reason for optimism.
We’re not sure when exactly will this phone launch, but there’s a good chance that will happen by the end of this month.
