Vivo has just announced the global version of its new Android 17-based OS. In other words, the global OriginOS 7 Android skin has been presented. It’s actually already available as part of a preview program. As a reminder, Vivo also announced the X500 series of devices.
Global OriginOS 7 is now official and it’ll allegedly stay smooth even after 6 years of use
Vivo says that OriginOS 7 brings a “smartly smooth experience” that’s “engineered across touch response, fluid motion, and peak-load performance.” It’s claimed that the whole OS is built to stay smooth even after six years of daily use.
Next-gen Origin Smooth Engine is included here, and it’s providing a “comprehensive architectural redesign for graphics computation, memory management, and system scheduling.” Ultra-Core Computing is also here to allocate processing resources dynamically based on where demand is highest. That should keep the system responsive in every scenario.
Apps should load about 10% faster
The company claims that OriginOS 7 has a 10% faster app cold start time and an 11% faster app page switching compared to OriginOS 6. It’s also said that Memory Fusion makes memory allocation “dramatically more efficient.”
Vivo says that in OriginOS 7 “every swipe, tap, and transition follows natural physics principles”. On the other hand, Fluid Motion introduces “liquid-inspired dynamics that allow interface elements to stretch, bounce, and merge organically as they track the speed and direction of the finger.”
It’s interesting that Vivo also mentioned Apple devices. The company says that OriginOS 7 can pair to an Apple Watch and display notifications while “syncing essential workout and health data straight into the Origin Health app.” AirPods battery levels are also shown in the Origin Island, while there’s also support for Spatial Audio.
Vivo Office Kit remains available for iPad, macOS, and Windows users. Vivo’s Jovi, the cross-device personal agent, is integrated into OriginOS 7 as well, and the same goes for the Office Kit. It can coordinate tasks across connected phones and computers.
Several new features have been added
Wiggle Theme is new. It can turn photos into interactive liquid surfaces that ripple, compress, and rebound to the touch. Glint Theme, on the other hand, uses the gyro to cast realistic lights and shadows across wallpapers as you tilt the phone.
StickIt allows you to build “layered, dynamic collage compositions from photos and live photos” on your lock screen, home screen, and the Always-On Display. Pet Pals can make your screen “come alive” with interactive pets that respond dynamically to device motion, charging status, music playback, and so on.
OriginOS is already available as part of a Preview Program (Open Beta) for the Vivo X300 Pro and select IQOO devices. It may be region-locked to India, Thailand, and Malaysia for now, though.
