Flagship smartphones come with all the latest high-end tech and beautiful designs. But when it comes to repairability, most of them fall short. However, that isn’t the case with the Samsung Galaxy S26 FE, where a teardown by PBKreviews found the phone to be surprisingly repairable.
Galaxy S26 FE teardown reveals high repairability
In a teardown of the Galaxy S26 FE by PBKreviews, the phone got a 9 out of 10 in terms of repairability. They cite the phone’s straightforward disassembly process as being one of the main reasons. They also point towards components like the camera lens cover that can be replaced easily. You no longer need to take the entire phone apart to do so. This is useful if you accidentally crack the lens cover and need a replacement. By making the process easier, it also has the potential to make the repair cheaper too.
But what about the battery? Replacing dying batteries is pretty common, and Samsung has made the process relatively easy here. According to PBKreviews, the battery is held in place with an adhesive pouch. However, there are pull tabs that will make the removal slightly more pain-free. You’ll still need to be careful due to the adhesive, but otherwise it seems straightforward.
What else do we know?
Obviously most people would only care about a phone’s performance, and that’s why Samsung’s decision on how it designed the phone’s internal layout matters. From the teardown, PBKreviews found additional cutouts on the frame behind the camera. This allows it to have better contact with the internal graphite film for better thermal management.
Samsung also appears to have thoughtfully included some safety features. This includes mesh filters over the speaker and microphone openings. This is to apparently provide some kind of protection in case a user were to insert a SIM ejector tool into the wrong hole.
The overall repairability seems to be consistent with the Galaxy S25 FE, which is a good thing. So, if you’re looking for a relatively inexpensive phone that’s easy to repair, the Galaxy S26 FE might be it.
