The GTA 6 extended look finally arrived on the afternoon of August 27, getting an exclusive preview on Netflix for three hours before making its way to YouTube via the official Rockstar Games channel. The extended look was about 27 minutes of new footage, showing off more gameplay and several new game mechanics.
Rockstar’s big reveal has helped Netflix shoot up in viewership numbers by 50% on mobile and 125% via the web, with the extended look sliding into the #1 spot in Netflix’s top 10 movies list. In other words, the GTA 6 extended look was a big success for Rockstar and for Netflix. All of this is despite the week or so of GTA 6 leaks showing off clips and live footage of the leaker playing what is suspected to be an unfinished build of the game.
The GTA 6 extended look confirms the game will introduce big changes to the wanted mechanic
One of the bigger reveals from the extended look was the changes to the wanted mechanic. The wanted mechanic is a staple in GTA games, and with GTA 6, Rockstar is increasing the wanted level up to six stars (previously it was 5). On top of the higher wanted level, players will be able to use a new suppressing fire feature to avoid killing cops. More importantly, once a player is wanted, you won’t simply be able to escape the authorities by changing the color of your car.
Cops will recognize your face, your clothing, and the make of your vehicle. The cops can use these multiple data points to hunt you down. Which will then force you to do things like change your clothes and throw on a hat to get rid of data points like your physical description and the clothes you were wearing to ease the tension.
GTA 6 will also allow players more methods of stealing vehicles, and much of the game will be playable as both Jason and Lucia as a couple. GTA 6 is launching on November 19 for PS5 and Xbox Series X.
