SAG, aka Smart Analytics Global, just shared a very interesting smartphone report. The company provided us with the top five most popular smartphone families in Q2 2026. In other words, which smartphone lineups sold the best in that quarter.
So, for example, devices from the Galaxy A series count as one lineup, devices from the iPhone 17 series as another, and so on. You get the point. Having said that, the aforementioned Galaxy A series from Samsung ranked No. 1 globally in Q2 2026.
The Samsung Galaxy A series is the best selling smartphone lineup in Q2 2026
SAG says that the market share for the Galaxy A lineup jumped 11% YoY, and that those phones currently claim 18% of the market in Q2 2026. The company added that Samsung “aggressively protected volume and market share.”
The iPhone 17 series from Apple ranked second on this list with a 16% market share. The iPhone 17 series has seen a 24% growth YoY. Moreover, the iPhone 17, iPhone 17 Pro Max, and iPhone 17 Pro were the world’s top three best-selling models in Q2.
The Xiaomi Redmi series is third on the list with a 7% market share. The thing is, this smartphone series has seen a massive drop of 17% YoY. The same goes for Samsung’s Galaxy S series, SAG says. Those devices are holding 4% of the market, but they’ve seen a drop of 18% YoY.
Another smartphone series from Apple managed to squeeze its way into top 5
The Apple iPhone 16 series is fifth-placed with a 4% market share as well. Those devices have seen growth of 22% YoY, though, so they’re in a better position, kind of.
SAG also noted that the HONOR X series dropped 24% YoY, while the Xiaomi POCO series dropped around 40%. Motorola’s G series smartphones have fallen 35% YoY.
The company forecasts global smartphone shipments to decline 20% YoY in H2 2026. It was also noted that premium demand resilience will be a key trend to watch by the end of the year.
SAG also expected the iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max combined shipments to decline by double digits versus the iPhone 17 Pro generation in H2 2026. Considering that Apple did not announce a base iPhone 18 this year, it will rely more on the iPhone 17. Higher iPhone 16 and iPhone 17 prices could pressure demand. That is especially true in emerging markets.
