Since 2026, we’ve come across various reports of T-Mobile laying off its staff. Well, it looks like that’s not slowing down anytime soon, as T-Mobile has conducted more layoffs across eight Washington cities.
More T-Mobile layoffs across multiple Washington cities
T-Mobile announced is conducting more layoffs, but this time in cities in Washington. It is expected that 77 employees will no longer have jobs, which includes remote workers. Plus, six locations are also expected to shut down.
This includes 1216 N 45th Street in Seattle, 1315 W Bakerview Road 106 in Bellingham, 22309 30th Drive SE in Bothell, 1220 N Columbia Center Boulevard in Kennewick, 3802 Pacific Avenue, Suite 103 in Tacoma, and 2550 W Nob Hill Boulevard in Yakima.
In a statement made by Monica Frohock, T-Mobile’s Senior Director of the Magenta Service Center, “While employees are encouraged to pursue open T-Mobile positions, these layoffs are expected to be permanent.” Interestingly, these positions aren’t just customer service positions. They include managers, directors, engineers, human resources, and mobile associates.
The cost of efficiency?
Like we said, this isn’t the first round of layoffs from T-Mobile. Throughout 2026, there have been multiple reports of T-Mobile employees getting the boot. However, some of these positions were more customer-facing, like customer support, which seems to have been replaced by AI or automated systems.
We can’t say we’re too shocked, though. T-Mobile has been pushing for the use of its T-Life app hard. The carrier expects to fully transition its services to T-Life by the end of the year. This means that customers are expected to self-serve more, compared to before where they could easily walk into a store and ask for help.
However, recent reports have revealed that T-Mobile stores are now starting to display signs, asking users to use the T-Life app to check into the store’s location so that they can be attended to by a customer rep.
That being said, these layoffs are isolated to T-Mobile. Verizon, T-Mobile’s competitor, has also been conducting its own round of layoffs.
